Hi There!

I’m Aoife, and I know what it feels like to be trapped by food and body worries, even when “everything looks fine” on the outside. For years, I struggled with dieting, over-exercising, guilt, emotional eating, bingeing and self-judgment - but I wasn’t underweight, and no one would have guessed it was a real problem. In fact, I was often celebrated for being "healthy," and "disciplined."

But underneath it all, I was exhausted, stuck, and constantly judging myself. My self-worth and identity were tied up in being thin and appearing like I had it all together. Even though I had knowledge about nutrition, tried every diet, and worked on myself through therapy and personal development, nothing addressed the deeper drivers of my eating patterns. It wasn’t until I started exploring the psychological and embodied roots of my behaviours, looking at how early experiences, body image messages, and coping patterns shaped my relationship with food, that I began to understand what was really going on. Slowly, I learned how to eat in a way that felt natural, flexible, and nourishing.

Today, my relationship with food and my body has settled. It's calm, steady and grounded. I can stop mid-meal when full, enjoy chocolate and put it back for tomorrow, and make nutritious choices naturally - not because I am “being good” or punishing myself. I enjoy spontaneous meals, and social events, but food no longer consumes my thoughts, energy, or confidence. My focus has shifted to living fully, with more ease and self-compassion.

Through AOB Coaching, I now help women who are exhausted from dieting or overthinking, to uncover what’s really driving their patterns and create the same freedom and calm I’ve found without restriction, guilt, or the old “all or nothing” cycles.

OVER A DECADE WORKING WITHIN THE HEALTH & WELLBEING, SPORTING & NUTRITION ARENA

GAA NATIONAL HEALTH & WELLBEING COORDINATOR

Prior to setting up my Coaching Practice, I worked in Croke Park for almost ten years. I managed The Irish Life GAA Healthy Club Programme which delivers health and wellbeing benefits worth €50M to Ireland, according to the findings of an independent Social Return on Investment (SROI) evaluation conducted by Just Economics in 2023.

I developed and delivered training to hundreds of volunteers from across the country, empowering them on how to transform their clubs into hubs for health by delivering to their members and community opportunities that reflect the national policy agenda for sport, physical activity, mental health, and preventative health.

HSE HEALTH PROMOTION PRACTIONER

I currently work as a Health Promotion & Improvement Officer within the Mid-West coordinating and delivering a range of preventative initiatives to improve HSE staff member's health and wellbeing. I am also an experienced Stop Smoking Advisor with weekly clinics in Shannon and Ennis. I find this work very rewarding and use a range of my coaching skills to help people quit smoking, improve their health, longevity and quality of life.

NUTRITIONAL ADVISOR

For years, I worked with people on a one-to-one basis as a nutritional advisor and saw the hardship they went through to lose and maintain weight, regardless of the damage it was having on their mental and emotional wellbeing. For many people their relationship with food has become very distressing and it is commonly used as a mechanism to soothe or distract from unpleasant emotions and situations. Food itself is not the problem, but the symptom of underlying factors that may need addressing. I work with people to identify these and ultimately help them develop a healthy and peaceful relationship with food, body, and self.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I can help if you are tired of swinging between being ‘good’ or ‘on track’ with food, and the other end of the swing, where eating feels messy, chaotic, and  wrapped in guilt.
